The Fourth Annual Kate Koogler Canine Cancer Ride

On behalf of The Kate Koogler Canine Cancer Fund, I would like to thank everyone involved in the Fourth Annual Kate Ride to raise money for bone cancer research in dogs. As a result of this year's fundraising efforts we will be donating $12,500.00 to cancer research. We are most grateful to the following people for helping us achieve our goal. We are grateful to all the businesses and persons that donated awesome merchandise for our raffle and those include Smith Mountain Lakefront Realty who donated a weekend getaway. Top prizes for most sponsorship per rider included a limited edition print from William Wegman, an overnight stay at Fox's Jus-Em-Tyme Bed and Breakfast and $100.00 American Express Gift Card from Eastern Veterinary Blood Bank. Gift certificates were donated by Hard Times Café Frederick; Longhorn Steakhouse, Studio B Hair and Nails, Martin's Food Wesel Ave, Dual Highway, Bob Evans and Hub City Tattoo all of Hagerstown and Catoctin Wellness Center Fred Wolfson, LAc, donated an acupuncture session. Donated merchandise included a die cast car and motorcycle from Matco Tools Bill Hargett, an outdoor canopy from Mac Tools Fred Thornton, $100.00 from Julia Beall with Purina Pet Food, T-shirts from Snap On Tools Pat Bowman, a variety of Harley Davidson items from Dot Warfield, a sweatshirt blanket from Donna Mortimer of FCC Bookstore, hand made crochet scarves from Judith Bare and Sarah Hovde, wooden spatula and spoon set from Dan Fout, a shirt, cooler on wheels, weather vane, gift bag set and ceramic cat from the Hovde family, a H-D Lamp and pet doorbell from Peaceable Paws and Peaceable Pastures and a dog walk fannie pack from West Frederick Veterinary Hospital. We truly are so thankful for your kind generosity.

I also want to thank Gene Stitely for the excellent posters and Larry Sorcher and Erin Mills for all their photos. Thanks to Nancy and Byron Lee and Bonnie Cooper and Randy Griffith and Patty Hovde for putting up posters. And I would like to thank Jon and Stacy Bowles, Sandy Tetlow, Wendy Valentine, Bill Chew, Sarah Hovde and Jim and Julie Beecken for all their work setting up, cleaning up, selling pottery and scarves and for everything! Thanks to Alison Walker-Baird for the nice story in the Frederick News-Post that helped us spread the word about our event and enlist more participants. Thank you so much to First Sergeant Frank Wastler and his crew for escorting us and keeping our 52 motorcycles safe for the ride. And to the 91 participants who braved the wet weather to enjoy the fantastic food from Watson's Catering and the cool T-shirts from Custom Imprints, we so appreciate your making our day such a successful and enjoyable one. The 5th Ride is September 8, 2007 and will end with a picnic and live band at Pen Mar Park and we hope to see you again.
